What is Bluetooth Barcode Scanner?

What is Bluetooth Barcode Scanner?

A Bluetooth barcode scanner is a handheld device that wirelessly captures and decodes barcodes.

Here are some key points about Bluetooth barcode scanners:

1. Wireless Connectivity:

Unlike traditional corded scanners, Bluetooth scanners connect to devices (such as computers, tablets, or smartphones) via Bluetooth technology. This wireless connection allows for greater mobility and flexibility.

Functionality: Bluetooth barcode scanners can read both 1D (linear) and 2D barcodes. They can capture common barcode formats like UPC, EAN, Code128, Code39, QR Code, and more. Some models even support image capture and text fields.

2. Modes of Operation:

Manual Mode: Users trigger the scan manually by pressing a button.

Continuous Mode: The scanner continuously scans barcodes without manual intervention.

Auto Sense Mode: The scanner detects barcodes automatically when they come into its field of view.

3. Compatibility:

These scanners work with various devices, including Mac and Windows computers, Android and Apple mobile devices, and point-of-sale (POS) systems.

However, they do not work with certain platforms like Square, Shopify, or ShopKeep.

4. Transmission Range:

In an obstacle-free environment, Bluetooth barcode scanners can transmit data up to approximately 493 feet.

In environments with medium-density obstacles, the range is around 98 feet.

Transmission speed can be adjusted for faster scanning.

5. Battery and Specs:

Most Bluetooth scanners have a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

They typically have a decoding speed of 25 cm per second and a resolution of >4 mil (0.1 mm).

Print contrast is >25%, and the scan distance ranges from 25 mm to 400 mm.

Remember that when choosing a Bluetooth barcode scanner, consider compatibility with your specific devices, scan range requirements, and the types of barcodes you'll be working with.
